Operations

The default Compose setup is a localhost development service. The cluster Compose file is a local prototype, with storage nodes and PostgreSQL on one Docker host. It is not a validated multi-server production deployment.

Start with the v0.0.8 cluster setup, then use TESTS.md for the test commands and their limits.

Before exposing any S3 endpoint, review the limits and safety notes. Public-client rate and throughput limits are opt-in. External TLS, connection controls, backups, and database availability remain operator responsibilities. ObjectStore's optional node TLS covers node traffic only.

For disk encryption, see Encrypted storage. It uses a host-mounted dm-crypt/LUKS filesystem; ObjectStore does not manage encryption keys. Encryption alone does not establish GDPR compliance.

Keep independent backups and test restores. The repository includes a two-machine durability drill, which is a test procedure rather than a production guarantee.
